Who are Tonybet?
Tonybet is the company behind the appropriately-named Tonybet sports betting website. It’s an iGaming company based in Estonia, and is so-named because it was once owned by Antanas Guoga, better known to the poker world as Tony G. Before Tony G got involved in the running of the company, it was called OmniBet. There have been several UK-facing iGaming brands under the Tonybet banner in the past, but 22Bet and 1xBet have closed down in recent years. That means there are currently no Tonybet sister sites from the point of view of UK players.
As we’re a sister sites website, the fact that there aren’t any Tonybet sister sites means that we don’t cover the operator in detail. If you’d like to find out all about the Tonybet website, click the thumbnail above to be taken to our dedicated review page.
Tonybet and the UKGC
Tonybet has withdrawn most of its iGaming brands from the UK, but its flagship Tonybet website still remains. As such, the company still holds a UK Gambling Commission licence under account number 39126. The current licence has been in force since November 2014, but in January 2023, the company found itself on the wrong side of regulatory action. After reviewing Tonybet’s operating licence, the UKGC determined that the company had broken conditions relating to fair and transparent terms and practices, anti-money laundering, reporting key events, and the social responsibility code of practice.
In response to the identified failings, Tonybet was handed an official warning, had further conditions imposed on its operating licence, and was fined £442,750. The Commission noted that improvements have been made at Tonybet since the failings were identified.
