Who are WHG International Limited?

WHG stands for “William Hill Group.” This is the company that owns the William Hill brand, which has long been one of the most trusted names in sports betting in the UK. It might surprise you to see that we don’t have any William Hill sister sites listed on this page, but it’s technically correct. William Hill is the only iGaming brand that WHG International Limited operates in the eyes of the UK Gambling Commission. While you might be aware of connections between William Hill and Mr Green, the Mr Green brand still technically remains the property of Mr Green Limited, and as such, we list them separately.

There’s another connection you should be aware of when it comes to William Hill, and that’s the 888 Group. 888 Holdings paid big money to acquire WHG International Limited in 2022, so you could look at brands like 888 Casino and 888 Sport as William Hill sister sites if you so desired. WHG International Limited and the UKGC

William Hill is a UK-facing iGaming betting company and website, which means that WHG International Limited holds a UK Gambling Commission licence. It’s licence number 39225, and has been in force for a very long time. It is not, however, a clean licence. In March 2023, the UKGC announced the result of a compliance assessment carried out on the company’s operations. It found that between May 2020 and October 2021, WHG International was in breach of several licence conditions and codes of practice.

Among the licence conditions broken were rules governing technical standards, customer risk assessment, customer interaction, provision of credit, and customers who hold more than one account. While the UKGC stopped short of issuing WHG International Limited with a fine, the company made an enormous voluntary settlement payment of £12.5m, and now has additional conditions attached to its licence. Remedial action has since been taken by WHG International Limited.
